Steven Marcus is an entrepreneur and investor with extensive experience in the fields of life sciences, technology and real estate.

In 2017, by launching RUNLABS, Steven Marcus confirmed his commitment to Making Science Easier. The European life sciences sector has outgrown its existing infrastructure, something new needs to be built for this innovative vertical. He recognised that the life sciences today are the most exciting, dynamic sectors in the world.

In his role leading RUNLABS, Steven Marcus is involved in the day-to-day operations of the business, overseeing the strategic direction of the company, organising cluster building, managing financial structuring and fundraising initiatives and developing life sciences ecosystems.

Steven Marcus has extensive life science real estate experience. He was a part of the team that developed the leading life sciences innovation center in New York, the Alexandria Center for Life Science NYC, and he spearheaded Alexandria’s life sciences business development in India. In 2013, Steven Marcus advised Alexandria Real Estate Equities (NYSE:ARE) on its capital markets strategy and on the creation of substantial shareholder value. This led to ARE’s largest programmatic joint venture (approx. $1.2 billion of investment, including the development of long-term life sciences clusters in Boston and San Diego) with TIAA, now Nuveen.

Prior to founding RUNLABS, Steven Marcus also managed Bugsby Property LLC. Established in 2012, the business is an investment manager and real estate sponsor that aims to generate unconventional value from asset backed and intellectual property investments. The business’ projects have been featured in numerous industry publications.

Alongside his ventures in investment management and his work at RUNLABS, Steven Marcus is also involved in philanthropic initiatives. He is a supporter and former founding board member of the Child Mind Institute, an independent nonprofit organisation transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders.
